What Transportation Means at Edwards

Edwards Transportation keeps the entire operation moving, from timber in the woods to finished products on your dock. We haul it. Logs, rough and finished lumber, pallets, crane mats, and other industrial wood products between our forests, mills, plants, and customer locations within our core service area. When a delivery goes beyond that footprint, we bring in a small group of vetted carrier partners, plus rail and ship where it makes sense, so you get the same level of reliability even when the lane runs farther than our own trucks.

N

We Move:

logs, lumber, pallets, crane mats, and wood byproducts.

N

We Serve:

plant‑to‑plant transfers, mill‑to‑distributor shipments, and direct‑to‑customer deliveries.

N

We Coordinate:

closely with Timber Buying, Manufacturing, and your team so product and trucks are ready when you are.

The Last Link in a Fully Integrated Supply Chain

From the moment a tree is harvested to the moment a finished product hits your dock, Edwards keeps control of the entire journey. Our transportation team connects Timber Buying and Manufacturing, moving logs, lumber, pallets, and crane mats exactly where they need to be, without handing your schedule over to a third party.

From Timber to Mills

We move logs from the forest to our mills so production isn’t waiting on outside trucks.

Between Our Plants

We handle plant‑to‑plant transfers to keep lumber, components, and finished goods flowing through the Edwards network.

From Our Door to Yours

We deliver finished products to distributors, warehouses, and job sites so your operations get what they need, when they need it.

Our company-owned fleet operates within approximately a 150 air mile radius, about 172.6 miles, from each Edwards location, creating a strong regional footprint across North Carolina and into key surrounding markets. Beyond that core service area, we rely on trusted carrier partners, rail, and export channels to help customers move pallets, and lumber farther across the U.S. and around the world.

N

Owned Fleet Coverage:

Edwards trucks operate within a 150 air mile radius from each facility, supporting reliable regional deliveries across North Carolina and into surrounding states.

N

Expanded Reach Through Carriers:

For lanes beyond the core radius, Edwards works with highly vetted outside carriers to extend delivery range without compromising service quality.

N

Rail and Export Capability:

Lumber products can move by truck or rail across the U.S., with export volume reaching global markets including Europe and Asia.

Why Customers Trust Edwards to Move Their Wood Products

When you order from Edwards, you’re not hoping a third‑party carrier shows up; you’re working with a transportation team that knows your products and your timelines. Because we own the miles between our mills, plants, and your dock, we can align production and delivery so your operation isn’t waiting on the next truck in the queue.

N

On‑Time, as Promised.

Our fleet and dispatch are dedicated to Edwards loads, which means we can prioritize critical shipments and keep your schedule front and center.

N

Drivers Who Understand Wood Products.

Our professional drivers move lumber, pallets, crane mats, and logs every day, so they know how to secure, protect, and handle your loads safely.

N

Flexible when “Nothing is Typical”.

We recognize that transportation cycles change daily; our team adjusts routes and priorities to keep your products moving when conditions shift.

N

Respect at Your Site.

From mill yards to tight customer docks, we work with your team on entrance roads, yard conditions, and unloading areas so deliveries are safe, courteous, and efficient.

How We Plan and Run Your Loads

Even though no two days in transportation are exactly alike, working with Edwards follows a clear, predictable pattern. Our team coordinates closely with Forestry, Manufacturing, and your operation so trucks, product, and people are all ready at the same time.

Step 1 – Plan the Load

We start by confirming what you need moved, where it’s going, and when it needs to be there. That includes product type (logs, lumber, pallets, crane mats), quantities, site details, and any special requirements for routing, unloading, or appointments.

Step 2 – Dispatch and Routing

Our dispatch team assigns the right truck and trailer, plans the route, and coordinates with our mills and plants to align loading times with production. Because the fleet is dedicated to Edwards, we can prioritize loads that keep your operation on schedule.

Step 3 – On-Site Delivery

When an Edwards truck arrives, our drivers follow your site rules, respect your roads and yard conditions, and coordinate with your team to get the load safely placed where it needs to go.

Step 4 – Feedback and Continuous Improvement

After delivery, we listen to feedback, good or bad, to fine‑tune lanes, appointment times, and procedures. That loop helps us improve every shipment, not just the first one.

If you have questions about how we handle safety, yard conditions, or delivery procedures at your site, our team is here to walk you through our approach before your next shipment.

Safety First. On the Road and On Your Site.

Safety is built into every mile we drive and every site we enter. From driver training and equipment maintenance to how we operate in your yard, Edwards treats transportation as a responsibility, not just a cost of doing business.
